One of Malmö’s musical touchstones, the Swedish-Iranian composer and multi-instrumentalist presents the world premiere of her most comprehensive work so far. With Bahar on piano, live production, electronic kalimba, effects, and percussion; Gerda Holmquist on cello; and Anna Bergvall on electric harp and guitar, Hamal is an auditory and visual experience residing in the borderland between composition and improvisation. As Bahar explains, “Hamal is very much composing itself. And my wish is that Gerda, Anna, and I can convey this feeling of change and development in the music; how the interaction between sounds relates to this notion of energy being transformed; the feeling of togetherness and companionship through change. I believe music can do that, and it has never been more important for it to do so.”
