Intonal Guerrilla Music Actions

In the beginning of 2021, it was still very uncertain if we would be able to pull off a festival at any time that year. We had been producing two festivals that didn't happen at that point, and really felt that we HAD to do something or we'll break.

So we came up with the idea of doing little guerrilla actions where we crash various locations around Malmö, without notice or announcement, and just create what we love. No crowd or anything, just us, the artists and their creativity. To fuel our souls while we kept waiting for the world to open up for culture again.

ACTION #5 → Gina040 at Bolero Record Store

Gina040 - Tears For Goliath : Plugged In

Gina040 is the musically multifaceted pride and joy of Malmö City. Since their humble start as a solo artist, posting red peaked singer/songwriter tunes to Soundcloud during their early teens, they have now gone on to become one of the most beloved and chaotic players in Malmö’s alternative music scene. As part, and founder, of the celebrated interdisciplinary musical collective FNGRLCKN, they have catapulted themselves from casual bedroom-producing to performing at well-established stages and international festivals by incorporating their love for Rock and Country with Hip Hop/Lo-Fi to lyrics about the pains within the human experience.

For Intonal Aktion, Gina040 presents a live and reworked rendition of their debut EP Tears For Goliath - a work depicting the journey of loving someone with depression - translated in a reverse Nirvana MTV Unplugged style. Accompanied by Deria Rumina Yenidogan on bass and Elise Löthmann Kaliff on drums, hosted in the close-knit quarters of the Bolero basement, they welcome you to the first-ever live performance of Tears For Goliath.

ACTION #4 → Dip Shim at Mido Quality

New year, new action! For the first guerrilla action of 2022 we invited one of Malmö’s key figures. Record shop owner (Bolero Records), community builder, tastemaker, tutor, producer, label honcho, DJ, electro aficionado and overall just ultra lovable guy - Diego Ocejo a.k.a. Dip Shim. Together we crashed the most locally known afterhours location - Mido Quality. The only(?) place in Malmö you can get a limp but oh so necessary sandwich and Pucko at 5AM on a sunday. Dip Shim delivered an improvised electro set with one foot in Drexciyan murky waters and the other in the Malmö spirit of lofi acid.

ACTION #3 → ”You are my superstar" by Lilium

Our guerrilla actions return for a third and (for 2021..) final time.
Malmö based duo Lilium is as fresh a project as projects come! While Lilium is a new outing, both its members - Loljud and Miranda Magdalena - are far from novices. They both have active and highly relevant creative output going (definitely worth delving into!).

Together with Intonal they present the breezy yet contemplative journey called "You are my superstar", recorded in june 2021 on a rooftop at Kopparbergsgatan in Malmö.

ACTION #2 → Dungeon Acid

Our guerrilla actions continue, this time with Swedish modular synth hero Dungeon Acid, aka Jean-Louis Huhta. A true skate or die-hard, there was no better place to for him to play unexpectedly than Stapelbäddsparken Skatepark. Surrounded by local skaters – a natural fit for radical music – on a May afternoon, his one-take, improvisational, no overdubs style vibes with a lust for life on wheels, albeit in a slightly more pensive way than his usual acid rippling beats.

Dungeon Acid played the opening night of Intonal 2021 on Wednesday, 16 June, alongside House of North – the Berlin-based experimental design studio working with technology, light, and space – in a new installation concept performance as Northern Acid.

ACTION #1 → ”Tilt To Turn” by Rivet and Frédéric Gies

Here's the first one; featuring Rivet and Frédéric Gies who have made a unique piece specifically for Intonal. It was filmed at the amazing Kornheddinge Kvarn (Kornheddinge Mill) situated 20 minutes outside Malmö, during a very cold April morning. Music and dance were composed this spring, performed only this once with the birds, dogs and crew as crowd. And now you too.
