The Greek composer, musician, and sound artist Dimitris Papadatos has become one of the leaders in experimental dub electronics and a core member of the Bokeh Versions squad.
His work primarily focuses on spirituality and transformation and is an exercise of style focusing on a counter-factual historical approach of dub music, stripped to its basic drum/bass/vocals/effects form. A prolific producer, he has released a diverse and expansive body of work on the likes of Bokeh Versions, The Tapeworm, Anòmia, DFA Records, Ecstatic, and Berceuse Heroique. He has also collaborated on critically acclaimed releases with Not Waving (as Not Glass), Guerilla Toss and Leslie Winer as well as releasing remixes for artists such as How To Dress Well, Jabu, Maximum Joy, and more for labels such as Domino, Young Echo, ESP Institute, and Smalltown Supersound. His work has been presented in various international institutions and festivals including Berlin Atonal, Meakusma Festival, Documenta14, and BBK Bilbao.
Jay Glass Dubs' new work #1 In England premieres at Intonal alongside a new release on Berceuse Heroique. Composed and recorded during the pandemic, the work embraces elements of his previous approaches but is solemnly directed into
more sparse and harmonic territories. Dedicated to the late maestro Vangelis Papathanassiou, a compatriot of Papadatos, the title was inspired by a promo sticker on one of his records in Papadatos’ collection. Long-term collaborator, director and artist Panagiotis Kostouros has contributed a video work that accompanies the musical performance, a footage series of portraits of lost and discarded Athenian urban pathways, complexes, and complexities that signify their home country's present financial, political, and social state: a 45 minute single-shot journey
through the lower parts of Acharnon and Patission, one of the last neighbourhoods in central Athens that hasn’t been completely gentrified.
