Tintin Patrone
presents Black Horse Names:
World Premiere
The German-Filipino sound and performance artist connects music, art, sound, and experimental gesture with minimal sound work and durational performances influenced by microtonality and music-making animals. Her sound focuses on tuning, intonation, and harmonic modulation as played by trombone and various modulation devices. Perceptual effects of controlled tones re-calibrate the listener’s relationship to sound. Also inspired by club culture, she often performs with her noise orchestra and cooperates with other artists and collectives.
With Black Horse Names:, Patrone’s dark ambient improvisations, based on trombone and various modulation devices, deconstruct the concept of musical solos. Tansferring an apocalyptic seven trombone scenario into a low-frequency drone event, it combines microtonal approaches and contemporary blues elements. The artist quotes Johanna Seibt’s Robophilosophy as inspiration: “Having a future is something that is a remarkable aspect of human beings. We continuously project ourselves into the human future. And what we are experiencing when we do so, is a mixture of delight and horror.”
