DJ Haram moves with intent across form and function. Raised in New Jersey and based in Brooklyn, she works through experimental bass, fractured club structures, analogue synths and percussion, drawing on Middle Eastern instrumentation and sample work that carries memory within it. Her productions hold density and abrasion, yet each element is placed with care.

As one half of 700 Bliss alongside Moor Mother, she released Nothing to Declare in 2022 — a record met with close critical attention for its stripped force and lyrical precision. Her solo EP Handplay marked a shift toward a more exposed register, where her own voice stepped forward, tracing intimacy, loyalty, and interior tension.

With the release of Beside Myself on Hyperdub, that voice settles firmly at the centre. The album unfolds through collaborations with rappers, co-producers and instrumentalists, yet it remains anchored in her presence. The production is spacious and tactile. Beats feel carved rather than layered. She has described the work as concerned with the “survival of the spirit,” and the phrasing feels accurate — direct, unsentimental.

Years of broadcasting Rage Radio on Rinse FM and curating Monday Night Raw at The Lot Radio inform her approach behind the decks. In performance, rhythms shift without warning. Bass settles low in the body. Her voice moves through distortion and clarity, close and steady. The room adjusts to her pace, held in a focused, deliberate intensity.
