Nik Colk Void

Nik Colk Void is an experimental electronic musician and producer known for her fearless improvisation and boundary-pushing sound. Her widely acclaimed debut solo album, Bucked Up Space (Editions Mego, 2022), merges minimalist techno, noise, and avant-garde electronics into a raw yet deeply considered work.

Praised for its uncompromising approach, Bucked Up Space was built from modular synth explorations, embodying Void’s ethos of patience and restraint while embracing collective action through the lens of the self. Designed to resonate in diverse spaces, the album highlights her adaptability and commitment to pushing sonic boundaries while sparking new social dialogues through music. Ranked among Bleep’s Albums of the Year, it cemented her reputation as an artist unafraid to challenge and disrupt.

With a background in visual arts, Void has been a key figure in electronic music as both a producer and live performer. She is best known for her work with Factory Floor and Carter Tutti Void, the latter a collaboration with Cosey Fanni Tutti and Chris Carter, both recognized for their bold sonic experimentation and uncompromising live performances. Over her career, she has produced ten major albums, released via Mute, DFA, Industrial, and Editions Mego.

From 2016 until Peter Rehberg’s passing, she collaborated with him as NPVR, performing at venues such as GRM Paris and Tresor Berlin. As part of a trio with Klara Lewis and visual artist Pedro Maia, she spent three years developing Full-On, which was released via Alter Records and performed live at Sonar, Dark Mofo, and the Pompidou Centre, among others. Void has also collaborated with renowned visual artists including Haroon Mirza, Philippe Parreno, Juliana Cerqueira Leite, Georg Gatsas, and Joji Koyama.

In 2024, she was commissioned by the Institut Français du Portugal to create Beyond Echoes, a multi-dimensional improvisation project combining Eurorack and cello in collaboration with digital visual artist Mathieu Le Sourd, performed live with cellist Ute Kanngiesser.
