Tashi Wada + Julia Holter
The composer exploring resonance and dissonance – and the son of artist, composer, and early member of the Fluxus movement, Yoshi Wada – is joined by his fellow resident of Los Angeles, core collaborator, and beloved artist in her own right, Holter.
Wada is a composer and performer using alternative tunings and simple structures to generate rich and unanticipated perceptual effects. After studying composition at CalArts with James Tenney, he performed alongside his father for many years. Wada has presented his music internationally and founded and runs the label Saltern, while his most recent album Nue was released by RVNG Intl.
Holter is the acclaimed composer, performer, and recording artist whose interest in sonic mysteries has led her to focus on the voice and the space between language and babble. With multi-layered and texturally rich music, she has amassed a body of work that explores melody within free song structures, atmosphere, and the impulses of the voice.
