Susannah Stark
The Scottish singer, composer, keyboardist, and visual artist makes experimental pop songs formed out of explorations into softness and vulnerability, focused on a heightened sensory experience of voice and sound.
Drawing from a background in visual art and a lifelong love of music, Stark uses vocal experimentation to explore different dimensions of understanding softness.
Recent performances include a UK tour with Dali Muru & the Polyphonic Swarm; Meakusma Festival, Belgium; Arkaoda, Berlin; Radiophrenia, Glasgow; and Cafe Oto, London. Her debut album Time Together (Hues And Intensities) was released by Stroom.tv in 2020, and described by Noel Gardner in The Quietus as, “a seven-song serving of gossamer dub-pop experimentalism,” and by Boomkat as, “a memorable first impression[…] locating something new and timelessly vital in archaic styles.” Since 2021 she has been playing live together with trumpet player Phil Cardwell and drummer Laurie Pitt.
